Travel Diary: Galicia, España

To the little pueblitos where everyone’s backyard is a vineyard, to the cities where locals stay out until 8AM for copitas, Galicia has the best of both worlds.

Earlier in June, my parents surprised us with a trip to Spain (aka “la patria”).

Being able to see where my ancestors were from with my family was such a beautiful experience.

I’ve always had a deep pride for being “Española” but after visiting the true motherland, the #Gallega pride is 100% real.

So from the land of “vale”, Albariño, pulpo and caldo gallego, enjoy!

These little signs are all around Galicia signaling el camino de Santiago De Compostela. People from all around Europe embark on this spiritual journey by foot to Santiago de Compostela just like Jesus’ apostle James (hence the name, camino de Santiago)

Fun fact: My mother’s maiden name is Salgado (straight from Galicia) which literally translates to “salty”… which perfectly depicts my family LOL
